"It was the dawn of the third age of Mankind..." The Shadows, First Ones
dedicated to chaos and strife, have awakened from their thousand year
slumber to wreak havoc on your computer's screen. These semi-organic ships,
looking like a cross between a spider and your worst nightmare, are so black
that your eye just slides across them. They can appear from nowhere and slice
any object with their powerful beam weapons. Occasionally, as they appear,
you can hear them scream in your mind.  There is no pattern to their attacks;
they operate seemingly at random, all the better to incite the disorder and
turmoil that they believe speed the progress of evolution.
If none of the above paragraph makes any sense to you whatsoever, then
you have obviously never watched the television show "Babylon 5." Even if
that is the case, you may like this screen saver (though it may appear a bit
odd). If you have watched and enjoyed the show as I have, then hopefully
you'll agree that the Shadows make for a good screen saver.

Installation
------------
1. Expand the contents of the .ZIP file to a temporary directory
   (e.g: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP).
2. From that temporary directory, run the program 'InstallSaver.exe.' This
program takes care of copying the screen saver to the system directory, and
verifies that the program will have access to the two .DLL files it needs.
If it has to replace them in the system directory, it will request a system
reboot. The screen saver will not be completely operational until the
   reboot.

Note to Windows NT/2000 users: The InstallSaver.exe program is written to be
NT-aware, and attempts to follow the installation procedures for NT. System
admin rights are required to install. However, I do not have an NT system to
test on, so I cannot guarantee anything.

De-Installation
---------------
If you want to remove the screen saver (though I can't imagine why ;-),
do the following:
1. Delete the file 'ShadowSaver.scr' from the system directory.
2. Delete the file 'ShadowSaver.ini' if it exists. For Windows NT/2000,
edit the registry and delete the values under the following key (if they
    exist):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\
        IniFileMapping\ShadowSaver.ini

Settings Dialog
---------------
The controls on the settings dialog should be self-explanatory, but in
case they aren't, the following is a short description of them:

Appearance Frequency: Controls how often a ship will appear.
Sound Frequency: Controls how often, once the ship appears, it will
"scream." Note: If this is set to "Frequently," the sounds will often
play one atop another.
Firing Frequency: Controls how often, once the ship appears, it will fire
its beam weapon, cutting a section of screen and performing its screen saver
function.
Scale Ships to Screen Size: When this box is checked, the ships will always
appear the same relative size no matter what screen resolution is currently
running. If cleared, the ships always are the same absolute size (roughly
200x250 pixels).
