Yes, windows starts even with the aria card, as long as I don't 
install the aria driver for windows, or with the driver installed
but 32 bit file access set to off. 

I have a CD-ROM but it is not IDE, it is connected to its oun
interface card.

Maybe I shoud give more information about my system.
I have a 496DX-33 system with a VLB motherboard (Opti chip set),
12 MB of RAM, an old Mitsumi CD-ROM Drive (not IDE), 
a Promise 2300+ VLB Enhanced IDE cpntroller, and a Diamond 
SpeedStar 24X (not VLB but that will change sometime soon).
I am running MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11
(small detail I forgot to mention).

I will do some more tests to see if I can get some more
information.

aria.drv is the aria driver for windows. I don't know if it
works with all cards, but my guess is that it should. I don't
know either about the bugs, I used the newer version because
there's always the hope that a newer driver will solve the 
problem sigh!
