The HELMDUMP and HELMLOAD utilities are companions to HELMEDIT, the F1GP
driver selection screen helmet editor. They are only for the adventurous -
I used them in preparing the example data file for HELMEDIT, and they are
very much work-in-progress (in the fullness of time, the functionality
may be incorporated into HELMEDIT itself).

The purpose of these utilities is to export (HELMDUMP) and import (HELMLOAD)
the helmet pictures, so they can be worked on with a professional photo-paint
program - this is useful for changing tints, shading, brightness, etc.

HELMDUMP simply displays the helmets from a data file at actual size to the
screen, pausing to allow a screen dump to be taken. Any shareware screen
dump program should work. HELMDUMP waits for a key press after each screen
is displayed.

HELMLOAD reads a .PCX file (must be 48x48, 256-colour) and creates a
helmet data file from it containing that single image. HELMEDIT can then
be used to copy this and paste it into another file. The palette of the
.PCX image need not be the same as the HELMDUMP screen, but it will
probably help if it is - otherwise the colours chosen will be replaced
with the nearest equivalent (the palette used by the game is fixed).

Anyway, these two utilities are probably worth what you're paying for them
(i.e. nothing:-)
