Windows (Win-OS/2) 3.1 Multimedia Speaker Driver
OS/2 2.1 Considerations

If you do not have a sound adapter (such as the IBM M-Audio
adapter or Creative Labs SoundBlaster), you may use this
speaker driver to provide sound output from Win-OS/2 3.1
(running under OS/2 2.1). The results will not be as
spectacular as those generated by a sound adapter, however.

To work, this driver must run in a Win-OS/2 session with
the HW_TIMER DOS (or Win-OS/2) Setting changed from OFF to
ON. To access this setting, go to your Win-OS/2 program
object (e.g. the Win-OS/2 Full Screen icon in the Command
Prompts folder), click on it with mouse button two, then
select Open -> Settings. Click on the right arrow (at the
bottom right of the notebook settings dialog), then click
on the DOS Settings (or Win-OS/2 Settings) button. Scroll
down until you find HW_TIMER, then change the setting.
Finally, close the notebook by double clicking on the
square in the upper left corner.

To install the driver, start your Win-OS/2 desktop by
double clicking on the Win-OS/2 Full Screen program object.
Find the Win-OS/2 Control Panel, and double click on the
icon. Then double click on the Drivers icon. Click on
the Add button, then specify the drive and directory where
the driver files are located. Select the PC Speaker
driver, and click on OK. Configure as you wish, then
click OK when finished.

From there you may use any of the Windows multimedia
applications which generate sound output.
