Although known as the Cliff Railway, mainly due to it's rather oblique (2-in-1), rather than vertical track, the mechanism of this system has much in common with the Cliff lifts of the same period. Built in 1896, the railway reaches the summit of the 430ft Constitution Hill. The 778 ft. track makes it the longest electric powered cliff railway in Britain. The main attraction at the top, apart from the natural view, is that provided by the camera obscura, which with it's 14in. lens gives a bird's eye view of over 1000 square miles, covering the Lleyn Peninsula in the north, to Strumble Head in the south.
